2026 Season Review
It was a disappointing return to Division 2 for Winsford.
A vagary of the fixture list meant that seven of Winsford's first nine matches were at home. Unfortunately this period, which should have been very productive, was filled with cancellations due to a lack of available players, and matches rained off. After discarding the result against Hemyock (who didn't fulfil any of their matches), we found ourselves at the end of June having lost three, with three no results and just the one victory courtesy of a concession by Cannington.
An improved second half of the season gave some hope, with victories against Cutcombe and Roadwater as well as another win over Cannington. Unfortunately the three matches we had to concede due to not having a team were costly, and Winsford suffered the narrowest of relegations against a Cannington team that probably didn't deserve to stay up after losing eight matches.
Top scorer for the season was James How with 174 runs at an average of 58, and James also got the top score of 89 which was part of a very impressive partnership of 170 with son Ed against Cannington.
Three bowlers got nine wickets, Jeremy Bingham (9/210), Andrew Blackmore(9/222) and Duncan Westcott (9/170). Andrew also returned the best figures of 4/14 against Cutcombe.
