Jobs next month (September)
-
Continue to water and feed your growing plants and vegetables. In particular, ensure you keep your camellias and rhododendrons well watered as next year’s flower buds start developing in August.
-
Keep deadheading to prolong flowering.
-
Cut back growth in hanging baskets to encourage new flowers and foliage. Make sure you feed your baskets well after doing this.
-
Cut back hard geraniums and delphiniums after the first flush of flowers to encourage new growth and further blooms.
-
Pinch out tomato shoots each week. Cut off any leaves growing below the lowest ripened fruit trusses to improve air circulation and prevent diseases. Feed tomato plants with diluted tomato fertiliser once a week.
-
Keep weeding.
The next meeting is on Tuesday 11th September at 11am in the village hall.
