Stargazing

Exmoor is blessed with little light pollution which leaves beautifully clear night skies - so much so it was declared the first European International Dark Sky Reserve.

Just perfect for seeing the stars

The National Park has a lot of online resources for stargazers, starting at this page. There is also an Astronomers Guide which can be downloaded here.

Throughout the year there are many stargazing events, culminating in the annual Dark Skies Festival running from Oct 22nd to Nov 7th. The full schedule has been published for 2021, consisting of over 50 events for everyone from beginners to astrophysicists!

The 2021 Festival brochure can be downloaded from here and has a full list of events plus the chance to win a Celestron telescope!
