Where to get good foodand refreshments

Winsford has two excellent places to get food in the Royal Oak Inn whose restaurant has reopened for evening bookings although the bar remains closed for now, and the Bridge Cottage Tea Rooms , both in the centre of the village.

Withypool Tearooms (4 miles) offering "a good choice of Home Made Cakes, freshly filled baguettes, Local pasties and sausages rolls, daily specials and the traditional Cream Tea". Tel 01643 831279.

Rest & Be Thankful Inn, Wheddon Cross (5 miles) "Early 19thC Inn at the heart of Exmoor National Park"  Tel. 01643 841222 

 

Dulverton (6.5 miles) There is a good selection of places to eat in this nearby historic town, such as:

Woods Award winning pub & restaurant with astonishing wine list  Tel 01398 324007 

Tongdam Thai Unusual cuisine for the area, but excellent quality.

Bridge Inn  Pub by the river with a good selection of drinks and modern British food. Tel 01398 324130 

Masons Arms, Knowstone (14 miles). OK, a little further away, but well worth planning a trip to this Michelin starred pub and restaurant. Tel. 01398 341231
