Winsford were promoted to Division 1 for 2023 after finishing 3rd in Division 2.

Having finished a creditable 7th in 2021 after being promoted to Division 2, Winsford were hoping for an improvement in position.

The season did not start well, with a sole victory against Churchinford their only positive result in the first six matches.

Then, following a dramatic 1 wicket victory against Ashbrittle, things turned around quite quickly, as they won their following seven matches to drag themselves from relegation candidates, to a position threatening the promotion places.

Only defeats by the divisions runaway leaders, Kilve, followed by a disappointing loss to Lydeard St Lawrence in a match that Winsford really should have won, stopped them from having a perfect end of season as they won ten of their last twelve matches to finish 3rd - some may say the ideal position for a team perhaps not quite ready for the rigours of Division 1.

The whole team contributed throughout the season and there was obviously good feeling amongst the players.  There were also some outstanding performance with both bat and ball.

With the bat, Tommy Wyatt was top scorer with 636 runs at an astonishing average of 58, James Tapp was a mainstay with 406 at 31 and, from just 7 matches, James How with 238 at 40.  Tommy scored the seasons only century as well, a magnificent 126 against East Huntspill.

The bowlers also contributed their fair share.  Andrew Blackmore (33 wickets costing an average of 12 runs each), Dan Bowley (22 wickets at 24) and Tommy Wyatt (21 wickets at 14) were the mainstays, but all in all 10 different players took wickets emphasising the team's all round contribution.  Dan had the best figures for a match with devastating 6 for 15 ,again against East Huntspill.

Congratulations must go to captain Dan and the whole team for their performances throughout the season.
