Ash Lane is closed either side of The Steep from tonight (Thursday) until possibly Monday to allow for water leakage repair. No notice or warning was given.
Thanks for putting the water situation on the Forum, brilliant platform for this sort of useful information and probably saved numerous phone calls to Wessex Water.
Latest update this afternoon (21 August) is that work in the 3 issue areas have been completed in Ash Lane, The Steep/School Lane and the footpath between Ash Lane & Halse Lane by the Packhorse bridge. All water should be running again, albeit a little dirty for a while. Thanks to Wessex Water for their speedy rectification, and for saving Mr N from having to shave in rain water again!
10:15 Latest. They are trying to rezone the water so everyone has it back on. They are then concentrating on restoring the Ash Lane works so that traffic can move up and down. Once that is done, the Steep is likely to be closed to allow for fixing the bust water main there.
A few properties have no, or very little water this morning. Wessex water say that there is an unrelated water main problem elsewhere which is affecting a larger area.

Nick & Dawn
Rain water worked quite well but we were both grateful to have the water back on. Well done everyone.

Steve, Thanks for the updates. Excellent use of the website.
Burst water main in Steep/Exford Rd area. Estimated 4-5 hours to fix. Some bottled water on its way

Thanks Steve, it’s already causing problems and disruption. Can’t believe there was no advance notice!
