Statement from Winsford Parish Council – 23/03/2020
Winsford Parish Council is taking the Government and NALC (National Association of Local Councils) advice regarding the current situation with Coronavirus.
In particular the Council is considering the health and safety of its Councillors as well as the general public with regards to Council meetings.
Council has therefore postponed all scheduled meetings to meet the social distancing and isolation measures being recommended by the government with immediate effect.
This has resulted in the Extra-ordinary meeting planned for 21 March 2020 being cancelled as well as the scheduled meeting for 30 March. In addition the Annual Assembly will not be held in April, and is provisionally booked for 26 May, although this date will be reviewed nearer the time.
To ensure the smooth operation of the Council, Councillors will communicate by email and telephone in the first instance and are awaiting guidance as to whether virtual meetings will be authorised by government. Council are keen to point out that this is not to exclude members of the public from meetings, or to take decisions in private, and will continue to monitor advice and information to see how to include residents.
